In 1922, M. Curtin Whalen & Edward T. “Skippy” Kastner acquired part of the former Edward Searles estate for a new garage which became the Ford dealership known as Mahaiwe Motors. The building was designed by Architect Joseph MacArthur Vance of Pittsfield, best known for the Mahaiwe Theater and Bascom Lodge. This is apparently the oldest surviving dealership garage in town.
Alander Group purchased the building and is completing a meticulous renovation to improve the mechanicals of the building with modern, stylish finishes.
